Food presentation ideas

At We Dine we want to make fine dining affordable; offering some extremely talented chefs with some truly sumptuous menus at prices far lower than the restaurants. We are extremely proud of our efforts; and truly hope we help to open the playing field and make sophisticated food an option for all.
However, that being said it’s not always possible to bring in a private chef to whip you up a storm. So if you are looking for a way to impress your guests without spending a small fortune we have come up with some top presentation ideas that can make even the most modest food look sublime.

1.Garnish
It is a foodie fact: anything that has a garnish looks immediately more impressive. Using some fresh parsley or dill and adding it to the meal will make the meal look restaurant standard, regardless of your cooking abilities. Bonus points go for those people who invest in edible flowers – absolutely unnecessary but undeniably beautiful.

2.Sauces
Firstly invest in a gravy boat and put the bulk of your delicious tasting sauce inside; presentation is no excuse for dry food. Once salvaged use the rest of your sauce to transform your plate into a piece of artwork. Use swirls, whirls and dots to create a Picasso-esque feast that proves people really do eat with their eyes.

3.Using moulds
Some of us are blessed with a keen eye for design and meticulous attention to detail, whilst the rest of us simply want to get the food on a plate and in our mouths. Which is precisely what moulds were created for. We would recommend going for a square or circle design and then simply layering the food, then ever so slowly lift off the mould, carefully, and watch your food be transformed into a thing of true beauty.

4.Serving dishes
Having some really beautiful serving dishes can make all the difference when hosting. These don’t necessarily have to be expensive – just make sure you have a matching set (with a few extras) and go with a theme whether that be contemporary, traditional or modern. A quick chef’s tip is when serving food to put dishes in the oven if serving hot food and the fridge if cold.

5.Confidence
This is the most important part of any hosting style – ever heard the phrase “fake it till you make it?” Nowhere is that more true than in the kitchen. Even if you are anxious about your food, uncertain if the sauce is split or green beans crisp present it with such aplomb and self-belief that your guest will be amazed before they have even taken their first bite. We guarantee by following these five simple steps you will have created your very own fine dining experience.

If you have any more ideas regarding presentation ideas we would love to hear from you.
